2019 Champions of Champions

It was a gorgeous two days at Blue Lakes Country Club in Twin Falls, ID to host the 2019 Tournament of Champions. 84 of Idaho’s elite players battled on the course this weekend in hopes to come out on top and claim the title Champion of Champions.

 Kristin Fenwick maintained her round one lead throughout round two. Competitor Kareen Markle got within 1 stroke of the lead after the front nine, but could not catch Fenwick before the round came to a conclusion. “I always love getting to play with Kareen, and it feels great to get this win” Fenwick stated in her post-round interview. Fenwick finished the Championship with a 2-day total of 158 (+12).

 Lori Ruiz started the day tied for the lead with her competitor Taylor Howell. Ruiz was 1 under par through her first six holes to start round two and had a 3-stroke lead at the turn. Howell made a run on the back nine with 3 straight birdies, but Ruiz held on to win the Championship by 2-strokes. “The course was in great condition and it was so much fun being able to compete in the Tournament of Champions”, said Ruiz in her post-round recap. Ruiz finished the Championship with a 2-day total 157 (+11)

 Jesse Hibler started the day 2-strokes behind day one leader Scott Vermeer. After the front nine, runner-up Keynan Fanslow had a 1-stroke lead over Hibler, and a 2-stroke lead over Vermeer. Hibler had 3 birdies, and an eagle on his way to a back nine 32 (-4) to win the Championship by 2-strokes over Keynan Fanslow, who shot a 70 (-2) to finish the event at 144 (E). Day one leader Vermeer shot 75 (+3) to finish in third place. “I feel like I played great today, and tried to keep it steady” said Hibler. Hibler became the champion of champions with an impressive 2-day total of 142 (-2) after a final round of 68 (-4).

Senior Champion Scott Masingill started the day 2-strokes behind Carl Sklavos. Masingill shot a bogey free 34 (-2) on the front nine to tie Sklavos going into the back nine. His impressive play continued as he posted a bogey free 68 (-4) to win the Championship by 1-stroke over Randall Cross. Cross had 5 birdies on his way to a 68 (-4) to be runner-up in the Senior Men’s Division. Day one leader Sklavos shot a 75 (+3) to finish in third behind Masingill and Cross. “I always enjoy playing Blue Lakes Country Club it is one of my favorite courses in the world, and really fortunate to win the Tournament of Champions.” Masingill finished with a 2-day total of 142 (-2).
