Men’s 40+ Division
In the Men’s 40+ Division, Darren Kuhn, the #1 seed, was able to secure the victory in his final match against Michael Conger. Kuhn obtained a 1up lead after the front nine. On the back nine, Conger brought it back to all square on the eleventh hole. However, Kuhn fought back and went 2up on the thirteenth hole and maintained his lead all the way up until the 17th hole where the match concluded.
Super Senior Men’s Division
The #2 seed, Bob Lutz, had an incredible winning round in his final match against the #4 seed, Peter Sacks. Lutz created a substantial lead on the front nine winning four out of the first five holes. However, Sacks responded by winning the 6th and 9th hole to cut Lutz’s lead to two. On the back nine, Lutz secured the title by maintaining his 2-up lead through the 16th hole finishing 3 & 2 against Sacks.
Women’s Division
With the final day of the Match Play at Jerome Country Club coming to a close, Sheryl Scott, the #1 seed in the Women’s Division, secured her first place victory in her match against the #6 seed, Melinda Howard. In a close fight after the front nine, Scott was 1up against Howard. Scott then preceded to have an outstanding back nine by creating a 4-up lead and finishing 4 & 3 against Howard.
Senior Men’s Division
In the Senior Men’s Division, Randall Cross, the only #4 seed across all divisions to make it to the finals, was able to come away with the win against the #3 seed, Bruce Robinett. Cross and Robinett were all-square after the front nine. Cross and Robinett continued in a tie until hole #14 where Cross birdied back-to-back holes to go on and secure his 2 & 1 victory against Robinett. In the consolation match, Scott Masingill was able to outlast Mark Spaulding to win 2 & 1, earning 3rd place overall.
Men’s Division
With the Men’s Division wrapping up the final day of the Match Play, the #1 seed, Jason Huff secured his victory in his match against the #7 seed Colt Jones. Huff established a strong lead after the front nine by carding 3 birdies to go 3up at the turn. Huff maintained his lead on the back nine to go on and secure his 3 & 2 win against Jones. In the consolation match, Daniel Uranga bested Brice Warden to win their match 2 & 1.
Huff, along with Scott and Cross, qualifies for the IGA Tournament of Champions at ElkHorn in September.
