2019 Champions of Champions

It was a gorgeous two days at Blue Lakes Country Club in Twin Falls, ID to host the 2019 Tournament of Champions. 84 of Idaho’s elite players battled on the course this weekend in hopes to come out on top and claim the title Champion of Champions.

 Kristin Fenwick maintained her round one lead throughout round two. Competitor Kareen Markle got within 1 stroke of the lead after the front nine, but could not catch Fenwick before the round came to a conclusion. “I always love getting to play with Kareen, and it feels great to get this win” Fenwick stated in her post-round interview. Fenwick finished the Championship with a 2-day total of 158 (+12).

 Lori Ruiz started the day tied for the lead with her competitor Taylor Howell. Ruiz was 1 under par through her first six holes to start round two and had a 3-stroke lead at the turn. Howell made a run on the back nine with 3 straight birdies, but Ruiz held on to win the Championship by 2-strokes. “The course was in great condition and it was so much fun being able to compete in the Tournament of Champions”, said Ruiz in her post-round recap. Ruiz finished the Championship with a 2-day total 157 (+11)

 Jesse Hibler started the day 2-strokes behind day one leader Scott Vermeer. After the front nine, runner-up Keynan Fanslow had a 1-stroke lead over Hibler, and a 2-stroke lead over Vermeer. Hibler had 3 birdies, and an eagle on his way to a back nine 32 (-4) to win the Championship by 2-strokes over Keynan Fanslow, who shot a 70 (-2) to finish the event at 144 (E). Day one leader Vermeer shot 75 (+3) to finish in third place. “I feel like I played great today, and tried to keep it steady” said Hibler. Hibler became the champion of champions with an impressive 2-day total of 142 (-2) after a final round of 68 (-4).

Senior Champion Scott Masingill started the day 2-strokes behind Carl Sklavos. Masingill shot a bogey free 34 (-2) on the front nine to tie Sklavos going into the back nine. His impressive play continued as he posted a bogey free 68 (-4) to win the Championship by 1-stroke over Randall Cross. Cross had 5 birdies on his way to a 68 (-4) to be runner-up in the Senior Men’s Division. Day one leader Sklavos shot a 75 (+3) to finish in third behind Masingill and Cross. “I always enjoy playing Blue Lakes Country Club it is one of my favorite courses in the world, and really fortunate to win the Tournament of Champions.” Masingill finished with a 2-day total of 142 (-2).

Round 1 - Tournament of Champions

The Tournament of Champions is once again being hosted by Blue Lakes Country Club in Twin Falls, ID. It was a beautiful day on the golf course for the Champions from all across the state vying for the chance to be crowned the Champion of Champions.

 Scott Vermeer holds a two-stroke lead in the Men’s Division of the Tournament of Champions after finishing even with a score of 72. Keynan Fanslow, Jesse Hibler, and Jeff Masingill all finished the first round with a score of 74.

 Carl Sklavos and Mark Spalding are tied for the lead in the Senior Men’s Division of the Tournament of Champions. Sklavos and Spalding both had 5 birdies on their way to an even par 72 giving them a 1-stroke cushion over Calvin Fillmore who finished with a 73(+1).

 Taylor Howell, and Lori Ruiz ended the first round tied for the lead with scores of 79 (+6) and hold a 3-stroke lead over Abby Black and Nila Kershner who finished the first round with scores of 82 (+9).

 Kristin Fenwick leads the Senior Women’s Division of the Tournament of Champions with a score of 77 (+4) and holds a 3-stroke lead over Kareen Markle who finished with an 80 (+7).

Reeder & Vermer Take The Championship Title's

Kip Reeder reclaimed his title of Super Senior Men’s Amateur Champion. Reeder won the Senior title previously in 2012, and came out to Jug Mountain Ranch meaning business.

Reeder had 10 birdies during the 3-day tournament and finished even par with an cumulative score of 216. He finished 9 strokes ahead of competitor Paul Lodge.

In his post-round interview Reeder disclosed that he changed out his putter the day before the tournament which he believed aided him in his victory.

First time Senior Amateur Championship competitor, Scott Vermeer, took the championship title finishing the 3-day event with 13 birdies and a total of 214 (-2). Vermeer started the day 2-strokes back of defending 2-time champion Gary Vanier. Vermeer built a 3-stroke lead with a 33 (-3) on the front nine, resulting in a 5-stroke swing, and held on to his lead to win the title by 5-strokes over Gary Vanier.

Vermeer was awarded the newly named ‘Joe Malay Cup’ by Joe Malay himself and Vermeer proudly Hoisted it up after his victory. The trophy was unveiled and presented earlier this season for the first time at the Idaho Golf Association’s State Amateur Championship 50th Anniversary dinner. Joe has 14 IGA State Championship victories, is a 3-Time Governors Cup Winner, 8-Time Public Links Qualifier, and has played in over 1,200 golf tournaments in his career. The Men’s Senior Amateur trophy has been aptly named the Joe Malay Cup.

Karen Darrington wins the Championship Title

The Women’s Senior Amateur Championship wrapped up today with a great win. With a 2-day total of 156 (+12) Karen Darrington took the championship title for the third consecutive year, and secured the title for her sixth time overall. Darrington was neck-and-neck with competitor Kelly Loeb who finished the championship with a 2-day total of 159 (+15). Loeb cut the lead to just one stroke in the first 9-holes of day two’s competition, but Darringtion was able to rebound the lead by 3 strokes by the end of the round to get her win.

The Women’s Senior Amateur Trophy was named in honor of Karen Darrington as the ‘Karen Darrington Cup.’ The trophy was unveiled and presented earlier this season for the first time at the Idaho Golf Association’s 50th Anniversary dinner. Tournament Director Taylor Judy said, as he presented the newly named Cup, “it is an honor that I present the Karen Darrington Cup to none other than Karen Darrington.” During a post-round interview Darrington said “It is incredible to have this trophy named in my honor, and it is an honor to be able to hold it.”

Gary Vanier kept his lead in the Senior Men’s Amateur on day two with 3 birdies posting a score of 70 (-1) and currently holds a 2-day total of 143. Vanier maintains a two stroke lead over Bruce Robbinett and Scott Vermeer who both have a 2-day total of 145.

Day 1 Senior Men’s Amateur Championship leader Terry Spackman came out strong in round two by going one under on the front nine, which included sinking a 40 foot birdie putt and increasing his lead to 3 strokes. Spackman struggled to sustain momentum on the back nine giving up the lead to Kip Reeder on hole 12. Reeder finished with a score of 73 (+1) and holds a 2-day score of 146 (+2). Spackman finished 3-strokes behind and has a 2-day score of 149 (+5).

2019 Senior & Super Senior Amateur

The 2019 Senior Amateur is being held at Jug Mountain in McCall, Idaho. Over 100 players are in the field to compete for the title of State Champion.

2-Time defending champion Gary Vanier holds the lead for the Senior Men’s Amateur Championship. Vanier posted 4 birdies and two bogey’s ending the first round with a score of 70 (-2). First time Senior competitor, Scott Vermeer is hot on Vanier’s heels despite having an up-and-down round with 4 bogey’s and 4 birdies finishing the day at even par, 72. Three other players are only 3 strokes behind the leader.

Super Senior Men’s Amateur Championship is currently being led by Terry Spackman , who bogeyed the first hole and came back to card an even par, 72. Paul Lodge and Kip Reeder are one stroke behind Spackman going into day two.

Karen Darrington leads the Senior Women’s Amateur Championship with a 2-stroke lead. While starting the day by bogeying the first hole, and having two more during the front nine, Darrington came back with an eagle, and finished the day with a score of 74(+2). Kelly Loeb is 2-strokes behind Darrington after posting 6 bogey’s and 4 birdies. Crystel Baladez and Jill Pogue are one stroke behind Loeb and 4 strokes behind Darrington.

Junior Amateur Champions

Today was the Final round of the 2019 Idaho Junior Amateur Championship hosted at the University of Idaho. Junior’s fought on the course in hopes of being State Champions.   

The Boys 15-18 Division Champion Quinn Haigwood had everything clicking today on the golf course. Haigwood had 7 birdies en route to victory and finished with a three-day total of 216 (E). “I practice every day I have worked relentlessly to get ready for this tournament. It feels like a dream that I actually won” said Haigwood after his winning round. “I made a great putt on 2 out of the gate to give me the confidence I needed to have a great round.” Quinn Haigwood was also recognized as the Diamond Line Player of the Year for his age division.

Kelli Ann Strand dominated the field from start to finish in the Girls 15-18 Division. Strand had a total of 13 birdies and an eagle during the three-day championship. “I had a few great holes on the back nine where I feel like I finally got going.” Strand kept a 13-stroke lead over 2018 Junior Amateur Champion Carly Carter finishing with a three-day total of 209 (-7). She stayed under par for the first two days scoring, 66 the first round, 71 the second, and came in at even par today with a 72. Kelli Ann Strand was also recognized as the Diamond Line Player of the Year for her age division.

Emry Gibbs went wire-to-wire to win the Girls 13-14 Division by 9-strokes over Hailee Cole and finished with a three-day total of 234 (+18). Emry was in control of both her mental and physical game throughout the event and was rewarded by taking home the first-place crystal trophy for the 13-14 Girl’s Division. With her win in the 2019 Junior Amateur Championship, she was also recognized as the Diamond Line Player of the Year for her age division.

 Will Strong fought for his victory against competitor Zach Carter. Strong had four birdies and an eagle during his final round. He was -5 after 9-holes, only one stroke ahead of Zach Carter, but stayed focused and finished his round even with a score of 71. “I struggled a bit on the back nine, but I am really proud of myself and how I handled everything.”  Zach Carter was recognized as the Diamond Line Player of the Year for his age division.

Junior Amateur Day 2 & 12-U Championship

Thirty juniors ages 10-12 competed for the title of State Champion during the final round of the 2019 Junior Amateur 12-U Division.

The day-one boys’ leader, Reid Piron had to play defensively during the final round to maintain his lead against Beau Sahr. Piron and Sahr finished today’s round with a score of 35 (-2), but Piron’s 4 Birdies in his first round, and low score of 33 (-4) gave him the 2-stroke lead he needed to become State Champion. Sahr finished the tournament with a two-day total of 68 (-6).

Beau Sahr finished second today with a two-day total of 70 (-4), and was awarded the 2019 Diamond Line Player of The Year Award for his season long point total.

Day-one girls’ leader, Allison Shockey started the round with a one stroke lead, but after a few holes she was able to give herself a 4-stroke lead over competitor Melia Cerenzia. Shockey ended her round with a score of 43 (+6) giving her a two-day total of 86 (+12). Shockey was awarded the 2019 Diamond Line Player of The Year Award based off of her season long point total.

The Boys’ 13-14 Division is currently being led by Will Strong with a two-day total of 145 (+1), after a second round score of 69 (-3). Strong had 5 Birdies today, and has a 2-stroke lead over Wheaton Ennis. Stephen Paul, Blake Helms, Zach Carter, and Ashton McArthur are within 5-strokes of Strong.

Daniel Uranga leads the Boys’ 15-18 division. During the round, Uranga had 3 Birdies and an Eagle to score 69 (-3). Brayden Miles and Cole Jaworski are tied only 1-shot behind Uranga with scores of 72 (E) with a two-day total of 143 (-1).

In the Girls’ 13-14 Division, Emry Gibbs finished with a 6-stroke lead over competitor Braylyn Bayer. Gibbs shot 78 (+10) during the second round. Gibbs is the only player in the Girls 13-14 Division to have 2 rounds in the 70’s.

Kelli Ann Strand continued to dominate the Girls 15-18 Division keeping her 7-stroke lead over Darby Rickel. Rickel scored a  71 (-1), and 2018 Junior AM Champion, Carly Carter took the low round of the day with a score of 70 (-2) to take the third place spot. It will be a battle on the golf course tomorrow to see who stays in the lead the win the 2019 Junior State Amateur!

Junior Amateur - Day 1

The 2019 Junior Amateur has moved north this year to the University of Idaho in Moscow. Over 140 Junior Tour Competitors have traveled across the state to compete for the championship title.

The Boys 13-14 Division has a close race with Blake Helms and Derek Lekkerkerk in the lead with 71 (-1), and 5 other players within 4 strokes.

In the Girls 13-14 Division, Emry Gibbs has a 4-stroke lead over 2 other players with a score of 76 (+4). Gibbs had 2 Birdies in her round.

Sam Pauly in the Boys 15-18 Division shot 69 (-3) and holds a 2-stroke lead over 3 other players.

Kelli Ann Strand led the Girls 15-18 Division with a 66 (-6) which included 7 Birdies, and an Eagle en route to a 7-stroke lead over Darby Rickel.

Tomorrow players will be competing to stay in the field and advance to the championship round.

The 12-U Series boys’ leader, Reid Piron had 4 Birdies in his first round, and posted an impressive 9-hole low score of 33 (-4).

Allison Shockey shot 43 (+6) and leads the 12-U Girl’s Division by 1-stroke. Tomorrow will be the championship day for the 12-U Series.

A wire-to-wire WIN for Barry!

It was a dominating performance by Carson Barry during the three-day Idaho State Amateur Championship at Banbury Golf Course. Barry is a Meridian, Idaho native and is an incoming sophomore at Oregon State where he plays on their golf team.

He came into this championship feeling calm and confident since he was playing his home course. “It feels amazing to not only win the State Amateur, but to win this on my home course.” His final round finished at 67 (-3). “It was a great day on the course I was playing well, and always enjoy playing with Hunter.”

Leading the tournament wire to wire, Barry finished with an impressive three-day total of 197 (-13).

Hunter Ostrom finished runner-up with a score of 69 (-1) and an overall score of 202 (-8). Ostrom had five birdies in his final round, but his three bogeys gave Barry the room he needed to keep his lead.

Ostrom left it all out on the course at the end driving the green on 17, and hitting a drive on 18 that had eyes for the green going over 400 yards leaving him only 60 yards out from the green.

Nick Roberts caught his stride in his final round and took third place with a score of 68 (-2) and a three-day score of 205 (-5).

Carson Barry will have his name added to the champions list on the newly named State Amateur trophy, The Scott Masingill Cup.

Carson Barry continues to dominate the field with another great round. “I feel like I played well, and kept my momentum going from yesterday” said Barry after his round. He finished today with 65 (-5) giving him a two-day total of 130 (-10). Barry had five more birdies in today’s round which aided in his lead over competitors Hunter Ostrom and Teagan Stephenson. “This is my home course, I feel comfortable here, and I feel confident going into the final round. I have a lot of fun playing with Hunter and Teagan and look forward to competing with them again tomorrow.”

Hunter Ostrom and Teagan Stephenson are tied for second. Ostrom ended his second round with a 67 (-3) giving him a two-day total of 133 (-7). Teagan Stephenson had seven birdies in today’s round, but his three bogeys on the back nine hindered his overall score. Stephenson is an incoming senior at Longwood University in Virginia. Stephenson finished day two with a 66 (-4) and has a two day total of 133 (-7). Day three is tee’d up to be filled with great competition and golf.

Day One – State Amateur

The State Amateur is a championship for the state’s best players. 120 players signed up to compete for the title of State Champion.  

Carson Barry from Meridian, ID leads the pack shooting under par with a score of 65 (-5). Barry left it all out on the course with five birdies today. Barry played in the PNGA Men’s Amateur last week making it to the semi-finals.

 Hunter Ostrom from Eagle, ID is hot on Carson’s heels and is one stroke behind him. Ostrom had an early bogey, but was able to bounce back two holes later and get an eagle. He ended his day under par shooting a 66 (-4). Ostrom has been on fire this season winning the Eastern Amateur in Virginia last week and the Arizona South Western Amateur in June.

 After yesterday’s practice round the Idaho Golf Association (IGA) held their second 50th Anniversary Celebration at BanBury Golf Course where the State Amateur trophy was named and dedicated to the nine time champion, Scott Masingill. The trophy’s official title is the Scott Masingill Cup.

While day one is in the books there is a lot of golf to be played, and Carson Barry will need to continue to play defensively if he wants to claim the Scott Masingill Cup.

Five 2019 Match Play Champions Crowned

WOMEN’S DIVISION: Deeble and Darrington went straight into the championship round this morning. Each player brought their best game in hopes to take home the championship trophy. The round went into a two hole play-off where Darrington finished one up.

 MEN’S DIVISION: Ranger Downs and Hunter Ostrom went into a play-off in their morning semi-final round where Downs took the win on the first hole with a birdie. Keynan Fanslow played Greg Law in the semi-finals where Fanslow had a great round ending five up with four to play.

 Downs and Fanslow played a tough afternoon match where it was back and forth until the end. Spectators gathered to see who would come out as the champion. In the end Fanslow finished the last hole 1 up to take the champion title.

 MENS 40+ DIVISION: Dale Johnson played Darren Kuhn. Kuhn was up three going into the final six holes which he thought would be enough to keep his lead until the end, but Johnson came back to win one up on the last hole.

SENIOR MEN’S DIVISION: In the semi-final round of the Senior Men’s Division Jay Sutton had a close round with Bret Rupert, but a few three putts gave Rupert the lead he needed to finish two up with one to play. Robert Mauer and Bruce Robinett also played in the morning, and it was another close round that went through to the last hole where Mauer finished one up.

Maurer and Rupert played for the championship title in the afternoon going four holes into a play-off where Rupert finally got the victory. “What a way to win! It was a fun match to play” said Maurer.

SUPER SENIOR MEN’S DIVISION: Robert Hafer and Ray Shervik went into their championship round this morning and each brought their best competition. Both players were neck and neck for the entirety of their round until the last hole where Shervik ended one up giving him the victory.

Match Play Day One 2019

 WOMEN’S DIVISION: Eight Women competed this morning, and four went on to the semifinals. Karen Darrington beat opponent Shawna Ianson five up with four to play. Kaitlynn Deeble competed against Abby Black four up with three to play. Deeble and Darrington will be going head-to-head tomorrow morning for the Match Play Championship title.

 MEN’S DIVISION: The men’s division was stacked with competition there were three play-off rounds for competitors going into the semi-finals. In the end four came out on top. Keawea Soares won in a play-off during his first round to earn him a spot in the top eight bracket. Soares lost to Ranger Downs who beat him six up with five to play.

 MENS 40+ DIVISION: Four men played in the 40+ division today and the competition was fierce to earn a semi-finals spot. Dale Johnson beat Steve Judy five up with three to play. Michael Conger beat Darren Kuhn six up with five to play.

 SENIOR MEN’S DIVISION: With 16 players in the field all qualifier players earned a spot in the first round of the Match Play. Jay Sutton beat Bob Ianson three up with two to play. Bret Rupert beat Mark Spalding six up with four to play. Robert Maurer beat Fran Matthias one up. Bruce Robbinett beat Rod Skyles three up with two to play.

SUPER SENIOR MEN’S DIVISION: Four Super Senior Men tee’d off for the first round of the match play. Bob Lutz and Robert Hafer went to a play-off to earn a spot in the semi-finals, and Robert Hafer won on the second hole. Ray Shervik won three up with two left against Russ Peterson.

 Tomorrow begins another 36 hole day. Seven pairings will tee off in the morning to narrow down the field for the second round of the day.

Match Play Qualifiers 2019

Nampa, ID – The 2019 Match Play began with a Stroke Play seeding round for players to qualify into the Match Play bracket moving forward. Sixty-Three players competed for their spots in the bracket at Red Hawk Golf Course and were divided into five divisions: Men’s, Women’s, 40+ Men, Senior Men, and Super Senior Men.

Men’s Division leader, Carson Barry finished his qualifying round with a score of 64 (-7) taking the number one seed by one stroke over Connor Johnstone and Teagan Stephenson who tied for second at 65 (-6). 28 men competed for a spot in the bracket and only the top 16 players qualified.

Karen Darrington led the women’s group with a score of 70 (-1) and got back to back birdies on the back nine which helped her stay ahead of Kaitlynn Deeble who finished one stroke behind.

2019 Fourball Champion Dan Pickens led the Senior Men’s Division with a 67 (-4) and the 40+ Men’s Division is led by Dale Johnson with a score of 73 (+2).

Tomorrow and Saturday each division will compete in match play.

2019 Women’s Amateur FINAL – Kittelson Fights For The WIN

Anna Kittelson Shares Her Victory With Her Best Friend & Caddy, Ben.

Anna Kittelson started her day tied for the lead with Payton Fehringer, but after a strong front nine posting four birdies and one bogey, she held a five stroke lead making the turn.

 However, the back nine was no easy road to victory. Making the turn onto 10, Kittelson drove it left into the trees leaving her with her first of four bogeys on the back nine. “Going into 10 I kind of knew I had it in the bag, and then as I started to play more I didn’t trust myself as much so I had a rough couple of holes on the back nine” says Kittelson.  

Kittelson and her caddy, Ben, were able to regain focus on 17 landing her second shot on the green to make birdie and a two-putt par on 18. “Ben did a great job helping me get out of my head and really helped me get back in the game mentally to finish strong.” Kittelson finished the final day with a 74 and a three day total of 226 (+10).

 Day two co-leader, Payton Fehringer was a tough match for Kittelson as she put up a fight through the end. Fehringer ended the day with a 79, and tied with Laura Gerner for second place with a three day total of 231. Laura Gerner had a strong final round posting a 74 (+2), even after taking a triple bogey 8 on the par 5, hole number 8. 

The Women’s Amateur trophy was dedicated and named after seven-time champion Jean Smith. The Trophy was unveiled and presented to Jean Smith during the Idaho Golf Association’s 50th anniversary celebrations this week at Clear Lake Country Club. While Jean Smith was able to attend the award ceremony close friend, and past champion Karen Darrington presented the trophy to Kittelson.To view all the scores click HERE

2019 Women’s Amateur Day Two – Fehringer Ties Up The Lead

Day one leader Anna Kittelson continued to play well in the second day, but a 3 putt on 18 gave competitor, Payton Fehringer the room she needed to tie up the lead. Both competitors have a two-day score of 152 (+8). Fehringer is an incoming sophomore at Grand Canyon University where she was named Western Athletic Conference Player of the year.

While the lead is tied between Kittelson and Fehringer, players Kelli Ann Strand and Laura Gerner are close behind to add pressure going into the championship round.

Day three should bring great competition and could be filled with surprises to see who becomes the 2019 Women’s Amateur Champion.

Anna Kittelson Misses her second put on 18 by a hair

2019 Women’s Amateur Day One – Kittelson Takes The Lead:

20 women tee’d off today for the start of the 2019 Women’s Amateur at Clear Lake Country Club in Jerome, ID. The course is in gorgeous shape, but the weather conditions tested the field with 30 mph winds consistently throughout the round.

 Anna Kittelson, incoming Sophomore at Midwestern State University, made her mark during the first day of the Women’s AM. Kittelson put up two back to back birdies on the back nine and consistently posted low scores ending the day with 76 (+4). Kittelson holds a two-stroke lead over Payton Fehringer last week’s four-ball champion.

With two days left in the 54-hole tournament, Kittelson will need to continue to come out the gate strong to hold her lead.

2019 Four-Ball Championship (Final Day)

Jerome, ID -  The Four-Ball Championship took place at Jerome Country Club June 8-9. The final round could not have been a better day for golf at 70 degrees and clear skies, the players were thrilled with the turn out and with the conditions of the course.

Hunter Ostrom and Doug Schlosser secured first place in the Men’s Division with a two-day total of 128 (-16). It was the third year in a row that a Hunter Ostrom led team has taken the Men’s Division Championship. Ostrom ended the weekend with a whopping 17 birdies, and only 5 bogeys. Scholsser got their championship securing round started with a birdie on the first hole. Day one leaders, Jesse Campa and Clancy Cockerham kept the competition close, but a few bogeys saw them losing by 3 strokes in the end.  

The Senior Four-Ball Championship was closely contested, and it was the team of Jay Sutton and Dan Pickens who came out on top over their final pairing opponents Joe Malay and Randal Cross after making par on the first play off hole. Sutton and Pickens take home the title of Four-Ball Senior Champions for the third year in a row. Sutton had an impressive 8 birdies for the weekend. Joe Malay didn’t leave a dry eye in the crowd during his speech at the senior award ceremony. Malay explained the trials he has been through over the last several years and what it means to him to be able to play golf and to compete at this high of a level. “I love these events, and I am so thrilled to be playing with such amazing people” said Malay.

 The Women’s Four-Ball Championship day one leaders Payton Fehringer and Natalie Mullins ended the weekend with 139 (-7) to take home first place by 5 strokes. Fehringer and Mullins had control of their lead throughout the event, but Abby Black and Sheryl Scott gave them a run for their money by posting a 69 (-4) on the final day.

2019 Four-Ball Championship

Jerome, ID -  The Four-Ball Championships had a change of scenery this year. Traditionally held in the Treasure Valley, the 2019 Four-Ball is being hosted by Jerome Country Club. This championship has fields in the Men’s Amateur, Women’s, and Senior Men’s Divisions.

 Jesse Campa and Clancy Cockerham ended their first day with a score of 64 (-8). On the back nine Campa and Cockerham followed up a spectacular front nine, helping them take hold of the lead. Defending champion Hunter Ostrom and partner Doug Scholsser were close behind with a score of 65 (-7). Ostrom, a junior at Notre Dame, had 4 birdies in a row on the back nine and 9 total birdies on the day.

 Dan Pickens and Jay Sutton hold the Senior field day one lead with a score of 69 (-3). Joe Malay and Randal Cross ended close behind them with 70 (-2).

 The Women’s field Payton Fehringer and Natalie Mullins ended the day at 72 (-1) leaving them with a three-shot lead going into the final round.  

Day two should be filled with competitive spirit and fun.

Day Two: Alternate Shot & Parent Child Championship

Nampa, Idaho – It was a cold and damp day at the final round of the Idaho Alternate Shot and Parent Child Championship. Despite the rainy conditions the players persisted and played well at Redhawk Golf Course.

Day one leaders, Scott and Jeff Masingill were able to hold their lead in the Parent Child Championship with a 72 and a total score of 138 (-4) for the two-day tournament. “The format was fun, and it was a great weekend of golf” Scott said after the final round and “it was the most fun you could ever have” his son Jeff noted.

In the Alternate Shot, Kareen Markle and Scott Vermeer finished with another 69 following their first day score of 69 and a total score of 138 (-4).
