2021 IGA Senior Amateur Championship Day 2
In the Men’s Super Senior Amateur, Paul Lodge extended his lead with an unbelievable under-par round. He made the turn at even par before adding two birdies on the back nine to shoot 71 (-1) on the day. This is the only under-par round in the field thus far. Lodge currently holds a five shot lead over Kip Reeder, from McCall, who shot 75 (+3) today.
In the Men’s Senior Amateur, Gary Vanier and Stephen Hartnett both shot under par rounds to put them into a tie for the lead. Vanier, from Tetonia, Idaho, had an exciting round with three birdies on each nine to shoot 69 (-3) on the day. Boise native Hartnett had four birdies and two bogeys on his way to 70 (-2). Both players are one-under for the event. They hold a one-shot lead over Scott Vermeer, who followed yesterday’s one-under round with a one-over par round of 73.
In the Senior Women’s Amateur, Sheryl Scott extended her lead by firing another 75 on day two. In an exciting front nine that included only two pars, Scott ended her round with an outstanding birdie on the 18th hole to give herself a seven-stroke lead going into the final round. In second place, Karen Darrington climbed up the leaderboard with a 76 (+4), by also birdieing the 18th hole. Darrington has a two-day total of 81-76=157 and is poised to make a run at yet another championship title.
Shawna Ianson extended her lead in the Super Senior Women’s Amateur by firing a second round score of 80, bringing her two day total to 158 (+14). Ianson continued her trend of playing well on the back nine at Jug Mountain Ranch by shooting one over par, 36 on day two. Having won both the IGA Women’s Mid Amateur in 2012 and the IGA Senior Women’s Amateur in 2016, Ianson is currently looking to win her first ever IGA Super Senior Women’s Amateur.
2021 IGA Senior Amateur Championship Day 1
With Day 1 of the Idaho Senior Amateur complete, Jug Mountain Ranch in McCall, ID definitely showed that it is going to present a great challenge to all players in the field.
After a steady opening round of 78 (+6), Shawna Ianson from Boise, Idaho finds herself at the top of the leaderboard in the Women’s Super Senior Amateur. She shot 42 on the front nine, but came back with a solid 36 on the back nine, which was highlighted by a birdie on hole #12. Ianson holds a seven-shot lead over Nancy Robinson (85), also from Boise.
In the Senior Women’s Amateur, Sheryl Scott opened with a stellar 75 (+3). Her round included three birdies on the day, including back-to-back birdies on holes 15 and 16. On her round today, Scott said, “the greens were rolling really nice today and the course is in great shape.” There is a tie for second place 77 (+5) between Kris Fenwick and Kelly Loeb.
In the Men’s Super-Senior Amateur, Caldwell native and defending champion Paul Lodge had a very steady round enroute to an even-par 72. His round included two birdies, two bogeys and plenty of pars. Lodge currently has a one-shot lead over Kip Reeder from McCall, Idaho. Following closely behind, there is a four-way tie for third place at 76 (+4) between Joel Hickman, Bob Lutz, Jerry Merida and Mike Rawls.
Things atop the leaderboard in the Senior Men’s Amateur are exciting as Jason Dobis of Boise and Scott Vermeer, also from Boise, both shot the only under-par rounds in the tournament today. Both players had very different rounds enroute to shooting 71 (-1) on the day. Dobis had two birdies and one bogey, while Vermeer’s round was a little more adventurous and included four birdies and three bogeys. The players hold a two-shot lead over Stephen Hartnett who came in with a 73 (+1) on the day. There is a three-way tie for fourth at 74 (+2) between Bob Wheeler, Fran Matthias and defending champion Gary Vanier. The Men’s Division will start at 8:30 am on Friday for round two.
2021 USGA Senior Men's Amateur Qualifier
In the 2021 USGA Senior Men’s Amateur Qualifier at Jug Mountain Ranch, Rick Lloyd from Sandy, Utah was our medalist to advance to the US Senior Men’s Amateur taking place in Detroit at Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. Llyod earned his medalist position after competing in a sudden-death playoff against Steve Hartnett from Boise, Idaho. Both Llyod and Hartnett shot scores of 68 (-4) for the day. Llyod had an impressive 6 birdies for the day paired with two bogeys. Hartnett, on the other hand, had all pars and 4 birdies. Llyod won after the first hole of the playoff with a clutch birdie. Hartnett will be the first alternate for the Senior Men’s Amateur. Scott Vermeer from Boise, Idaho earned the second alternate slot with a score of 73 (+1).

2021 Girls Junior Americas Cup
Final Round Recap
After an eventful three days, the Girls Junior Americas cup has come to a close at Banbury Golf Club. The final round consisted of many ups and downs as the leaderboard took some dramatic shifts starting on the front nine. Without a doubt, the 43rd annual Girls Junior Americas cup was one for the books as team Idaho went on to make history while playing in their hometown.
Trailing by three as the final round begun, team Idaho knew that they had to show up and create a substantial lead on the front if they wanted a shot at 1st place. Through the 4th hole, Idaho stood in 1st place going 4-under to create a 1 stroke lead over Mexico who at the time were even. Sitting in third, Southern California made a profound statement by going 6 deep to minimize their deficit by 1 behind Mexico. As the round continued, these three teams battled profusely itching to go home with the win. Entering the back nine, team Idaho and Mexico were tied for first at a team total of 3-under. Southern California maintained their 1 stroke deficit sitting 2-under after the front. Coming all down to the back nine, team Mexico sustained their momentum by not letting up. Idaho put up a tough fight, but Mexico stood strong and brought home the glory with a 19-under par total for the tournament win.
Team Mexico brought the heat with consistency and determination. Vania Simont who lead the team in individual stroke play fired a 69 (-2) in the final round of the tournament bringing her total under par for the tournament to 7-under which was third in individual stroke play. Lauren Diana Olivares Leon had a very consistent three days by shooting a total score of 69-69-69 = 207 (-6). When asked what her defining moment was for the tournament, Leon said when she knocked the par 3 on the fifth hole to about 2 feet from a hole in one, she knew she was playing her best game. Clarisa Tamelo went even in the final round totaling her score to 3-under for the tournament. Their fourth teammate, Alexa Saldana stated that her defining moment of the tournament was the first day on the first hole with a birdie “providing my team the momentum we needed to carry on throughout these past three days.” Saldana shot a total score of 70-71-70 = 211 (-2). Team Mexico shot a total combined score of 607 (-19). Congratulations to Team Mexico for their win in the 43rd annual Girls Junior Americas Cup.
With a staggering performance across all four teammates, team Idaho made history by finishing in 2nd place for the first time in GJAC history! Team Idaho started off strong and finished even stronger with their jump from 3rd place to 2nd over the course of these three rounds. Teammates Carly Carter, Emily Cadwell, Kelli Ann Strand, and Brooke Patterson all played with passion and heart while representing their homeland. Finishing second in Individual stroke play, Kelli Ann Strand had a well-earned final round by going 3-under. Through 54 holes, Strand ended up shooting scores of 72-64-68 = 204 (-9). When asked how it felt to make Idaho history, Strand said “It felt really good because usually were playing against each other and this week gave us the opportunity to support one another.” Emily Cadwell had an unbelievable three days by going 5-under total for the tournament. When asked if she would do anything differently, Cadwell stated that “we played really well and exceeded the goal we set out, so no we are very happy with how we performed.” Carly Carter who shot 2-under for the tournament stated that “everyone played well together when it came down to the wire” when asked about her highlight for the tournament. Brooke Patterson had a phenomenal last day by going 1 over for the day finishing with a 10 foot eagle putt on 18 green. Team Idaho shot a total combined score of 610 (-16).
In third place, the Southern California team put up a fantastic three days of playing with players Jasmine Koo and Kylie Chong finishing in the top ten in individual stroke play. Chong finished 1st in individual stroke play shooting scores of 67-65-68 = 200 (-13). In performance, Chong totaled a net of 15 birdies, 52 pars, and 2 bogeys. Jasmine Koo had a fantastic final round by going 2-under to go 2-under total for the tournament. Elina Kuang also had a stellar final round by shooting even to bring her final score for the tournament to 4 over. Southern California shot a total combined score of 614 (-12).
The IGA would like to thank every player and their captains for making their trek to Idaho for a great three days spent playing the sport we all love. As we pass the baton on to Montana for the 44th annual Girls Junior Americas Cup, we would like to wish them good luck in the upcoming year.

Round 2 Recap
Round 2 of the Girls Junior Americas Cup took some dramatic shifts in the leaderboard at Banbury Golf Club where teams Mexico, Idaho and Southern California still sit in a position to grab the title. Full of spirit and compassion, all 16 teams were excited to tee off this morning to enjoy another day playing the sport they all love. As we recap round 2, the IGA would like to take a moment and congratulate all 16 teams for a round well-played today!
With an unbelievable comeback, team Idaho made their way to 2nd place by going 10-under as a team today and surpassing the Southern California team by 4 strokes who are now sitting in 3rd place. Maintaining their first place spot, Team Mexico had a stellar performance today going 10 deep giving them a total team score of 412 (-14) so far in the tournament.
All three scoring teammates from Team Mexico finished in the top five of individual stroke play in round 2, giving them a heavy dose of confidence looking towards the final day of the tournament Thursday morning. Vania Simont from team Mexico moved into third today in individual stroke play firing a 67 (-4) with 5 birdies on holes 4, 7, 8, 10, and 18. Round 1 first place finisher in individual stroke play, Lauren Diana Olivares Leon, went 2-under for the day shooting a total score of 138 (-4) for both rounds. Tied for fifth in individual stroke play, Clarisa Tamelo had a fantastic round today shooting a score of 67 (-4) and making 6 birdies on holes 4, 7, 10, 11, 16, and 18. Alexa Saldana shot even bringing her score to 141 (-1) over the past two days. As Team Mexico leads the tournament by 3 strokes in front of team Idaho, the matchup tomorrow morning will be one for the books!
Team Idaho made a significant, yet necessary comeback today to put themselves in a strong position as we prepare for the final day of the Girls Junior Americas Cup Thursday morning. After going one-over in round 1 yesterday, Kelli Ann Strand walked into round 2 today with a will to win firing a 64 (-7) which has been the lowest score so far in the tournament. Strand put up a staggering 8 birdies on holes 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, and 18. When asked how she felt when she sunk the 15-foot putt birdie on 18, Strand said “good, really good!” Emily Cadwell, who tied for fifth in individual stroke play, had a phenomenal round throwing up a 69 (-2) with 3 birdies for the day. Cadwell, who will be an incoming freshman at Washington State, has put up fantastic red numbers for her team over the course of these past two days with scores of 70-69 = 139 (-3). Delivering with strong consistency, Carly Carter put up scores of 70-70 = 140 (-1). Carter had 3 birdies today on holes 1, 2, and 13.
In third place, Southern California went 5-under for the day bringing their team score to 419 (-7). First place finisher in individual stroke play for round 2, Kylie Chong put up another clutch performance firing a 65 (-6) with 6 birdies. Chong has yet to score higher than a par over her 36 holes these past two days. Jasmine Koo shot 1-over for the day for a two-day total of 142 (E). Elina Kuang played a great round today shooting even 2 birdies in the mix.

Round 1 Recap
Amidst college recruiters and hundreds of spectators, the nation’s top Girls Junior golfers teed off at Banbury Golf Course at 7:30 Tuesday morning kicking off day one of the 43rd Annual Girls Junior Americas Cup.
Currently in 1st place, team Mexico set a high standard for the day shooting a team score of 209 (-4). With low numbers on the front and back, Lauren Diana Olivares Leon gave her team a major advantage by making 5 birdies on holes 4, 11, 13, 16, and 17 to go 2-under (69) for the day. Alexa Saldana had a very well rounded day by making par on every hole besides a birdie on the 1st shooting a score of 70 (-1). The third team member to grant towards their final score is Vania Simont who went three deep on the front nine and 2 over on the back firing a 70 (-1). Although her round didn’t count up for Team Mexico’s final score, Clarisa Temelo had a phenomenal day putting up a score of 72 (+1).
Trailing by 2 strokes behind Team Mexico, the Southern California team is sitting in second after round 1 firing a total team score of 211 (-2). Southern California put up 6 birdies, 14 pars, and 4 bogeys for the day giving them a one stroke lead over team Idaho who is currently placed in third. In individual stroke play, Southern California team member, Kylie Chong put up the best score of the day by making 4 birdies to go 4-under (67). Tied for fourth in individual stroke play, Jasmine Koo had a fantastic 1st round with 3 birdies on holes 4, 14, and 18 to go on and shoot a 69 (-2). Their third teammate to grant towards their final score, Emily lee, shot a 74 (+3) for the dayLooking towards round 2 tomorrow morning, went 1-under for team Southern California to grant them their second place position in the final standings for round 1.
In third place, Team Idaho fought hard to put themselves in a strong position as we look towards the next two days of the tournament. Tied for fourth in individual stroke play, both Emily Cadwell and Carly Carter went 1-under (70) for the day. Cadwell finished strong with 2 birdies on the back nine and one birdie on the front giving her a score of (70). Carter gave a stellar performance for the day with 4 birdies on holes 2, 7, 12, and 18. 2021 Women’s State Amateur Champion, Kelli Ann Strand had a well-rounded day with a birdie on hole 15 to go on and fire a 72 (+1). Although her team score didn’t count, Brooke Patterson started off strong with 2 birdies on the 1st and 2nd hole helping her team stick a second place standing after the front nine. Patterson shot a score of 78 (+7).
As we look towards round 2 tomorrow morning, the title is still anyones game for these competitive teams. The top five standings for the day are as follows: Mexico, 209 (-4), Southern California, 211 (-2), and Idaho, 212 (-1), Hawaii 214 (+1), Colorado 215 (+2)
2021 USGA Amateur Qualifier

In the 2021 US Amateur qualifier , Darren Fletcher, from Cave Creek, Arizona was our medalist to advance to the US Amateur being held at Oakmont Country Club in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Fletcher played two total rounds at McCall Golf Course shooting scores of 71-68 = 139 (-3). After the first round, Fletcher was tied for fifth birdieing holes 4, 6, and 7. In the second round, Fletcher picked up the pace with 5 birdies on holes 3, 4, 6, 10, and 13 giving him the lowest score of the day.
Tied for second, Ethan Tseng (Portland, Oregon) and Jose Suryadinata (Surabaya, Indonesia) went 1-under for the day to force a sudden death playoff. After the first hole at Birch 1, Tseng parred to secure the second spot at Oakmont to compete alongside Fletcher in the 2021 US Amateur. Tseng shot scores 72-69 = 141 (-1).
The two alternates after today’s round are Jose Suryadinata 70-71 = 141 (-1) and Reilly Hegarty 69-73 =142 (E).

2021 IGA State Amateur Championship Final day
Josh Gliege
In the Men’s Amateur, Josh Gliege maintained his 1st place position wire-to-wire through 54 holes of competition. Things did get interesting after the front nine of the final round when John Baranco, who was in fourth place after 36 holes, made 5 birdies to shoot 31 and go 6 deep giving him a 1 shot lead over Gliege. In an effort to answer back at the turn, Gliege birdied holes 11 and 13 with an eagle in between on hole 12 to ensure his path toward the title. When asked what was going through his head heading into the back nine, Gliege said, “I was just trying to keep making as many birdies as I could. I knew Skyler would [go low] so I was basically playing match play with him at that point.” Gliege had an incredibly successful and consistent three days at the State Amateur shooting scores of 67-67-67 = 201 (-15).
Tied for second after the 18th green, Alex Talbot and Skylar Eubank were 12-under and headed to a sudden-death playoff. Talbot birdied 18 to force the playoff against Eubank. On the first hole, Eubank and Talbot parred, extending the playoff. On hole 11, Eubank snagged the win by eagling the par 5 to defeat Talbot’s birdie. Finishing in third, Talbot had a stellar final day with a total of 8 birdies en route to a three day total of 69-69-66 = 204 (-12). Eubank also had an incredible three days shooting scores of 68-66-70 = 204 (-12).
With an outstanding performance the past two days, John Baranco finished in fourth place with a score of 69 (-3) in the final round. Over the course the tournament, Baranco shot scores of 71-66-69 = 206 (-10).
In fifth place, the young Vandal, Jose Suryadinata, shot scores of 67-68-73 = 208 (-8).
2021 IGA Women's State Amateur Championship Final Round
Kelli Ann Strand
After the second round of the Women’s State Amateur, Anna Kittelson held a 1 shot lead over Kelli Ann Strand. Rolling into day three, Strand and Kittelson were neck and neck all the way through the 18th green. Shooting scores of 33, both Kittelson and Strand had two birdies on the front nine. Kittelson managed to shoot 36 on the back nine birdieing holes 12 and 16. Following Kittelson’s lead, Strand made 2 birdies and an eagle on hole 12 to shoot 35 on the back nine. She entered the final hole only one stroke behind Kittleson. With the tournament on the line, Strand stuck her approach shot eight feet from the pin, and then successfully made the pressured birdie putt to force a sudden-death playoff. On the first playoff hole, Kittelson open the door by bogeying the hole and Strand became the 2021 Women’s State Amateur Champion with a par. Over the course of the tournament, Strand shot scores of 74-72-68 = 214 (-4). Finishing in second place, Kittelson shot scores of 74-71-69 = 214 (-3).
Day one leader, Brooke Patterson, finished in third with a score 74 for the final round. Patterson had a solid back nine with two birdies on holes 10 and 12. Patterson shot scores of 69-78-74 = 221 (+2). She is a Tulsa commit as she enters her senior year of High School
In a two-way tie for fourth place, Tya Seth and Emily Cadwell were 6-over for the tournament. Seth had a phenomenal final day digging into red numbers with a score of 70 (-2). Seth shot scores of 75-77-70 = 222 (+6). After the second day of the tournament, Cadwell had two birdies and eagled the 18th hole to tie for third with Patterson. Cadwell shot scores of 75-72-75 = 222 (+6).

2021 IGA State Amateur Championship Day Two Recap
Men’s Division
Skylar Eubank
Josh Gilege
After day two of the State Amateur Championship, four Broncos and a Vandal sit atop the leaderboard. Coming hot off of his five birdies in a row from day one, Josh Gilege maintained his position for first with seven birdies for the day shooting a score of 67 (-5). Tied with Gilege for first place, Skylar Eubank crawled his way up the leaderboard and managed to fire seven birdies as well. Eubank shot a score of 33 on both the front and the back to go 6-under for the day. After 36 holes, both Gilege and Eubank, who were teammates on last year’s Boise State team, are 10-under total as the final day for the title approaches.
In third place, we have the young Vandal, Jose Suryadinata, who had a phenomenal day shooting a score of 68( (-4). Suryadinata dominated the front nine with four birdies on holes 2, 5, 6, and 9. Not far behind Gilege and Eubank, Suryadinata will certainly be gunning for the title as well during the final round.
With one of the biggest comebacks of the tournament so far, John Baranco fired a 66 (-6) to climb six places into fourth. Baranco had six birdies and zero bogeys for the day. With Baranco in a groove, he is 7-under total looking to strike in round 3 of the tournament tomorrow. In fifth place, Alex Talbot shot a score of 69 (-3). Talbot had four birdies for the day.
The Men will be teeing off at 9:30 am on Saturday at Falcon Crest.
Women’s Division
Anna Kittelson
On day two in the Women’s Am, two players took advantage Anna Kittelson jumped to first place firing a score of 71 (-1). Kittelson had an unbelievable front nine birdieing holes 1, 2, 5, 6, and 9 to shoot 32. On the back, she bogeyed two holes and made seven pars en route to the only under-par round in the field on day two. To break into red numbers for the day, Kittelson sunk a twenty-foot putt on the 18th green, giving her a one-shot lead going into final day of the tournament.
Kelli Ann Strand also used moving day to her advantage by shooting even for the day to make her way to second place. Strand shot a total of 5 birdies on holes 3, 9, 10, 15, and 18.
The Women will be teeing off at 7:30 AM on Saturday at Falcon Crest.
2021 IGA State Amateur Championship Day One Recap
Women’s Division
In the Women’s Division, Brooke Patterson finished day one with a score of 69 (-3). Patterson won the Women’s State Amateur in 2020 and is in a stellar position to maintain her lead for day two. Patterson started the day off strong with birdies on her first two holes and kept the momentum going. She added birdies on 9, 11 and 15 to gain a 4 shot lead going to round two on Friday.
Tied for second place, Nicole Suppelsa, who will be a super senior for Boise State Women’s Golf, and Grace Singpraseuth shot scores of 73 (+1). Suppelsa had two birdies on the front nine to turn at even par but said the putts just weren’t falling on the back. Singpraseuth had two birdies on the day but was very steady with a lot of pars throughout her round. Both players are looking to make strides up the leaderboard on day two.
The Women’s Division will tee off at 1:15 PM on Friday.

Men’s Division
As we wrap up day one of the State Amateur Championship at Falcon Crest Golf Course, the men finished in the a three-way tie at the top of the leaderboard. Nick Roberts, Josh Gilege, Jose Suryadinata all shot 67 (-5). Roberts scored a 30 on the front nine making six birdies on holes 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, and 9. When asked how he managed to go 6-under on the front nine, Roberts said, “I just tried to hit it close to the pin and make those putts.” Similar to Roberts front nine, Gilege made five birdies in a row on holes 2 through 5. Suryadinata had his fair share of birdies making six for the day on holes 1, 4, 6, 9, 11, and 12 with only one bogey on the day.
Close behind, Jason Huff and Skylar Eubank are tied for fourth with scores of 68 (-4). Eubank had a phenomenal day with an eagle on the eleventh hole and four birdies. Huff also joined the six-birdie club for the day. Boise State junior, Alex Talbot, shot 69 (-3), while Justin Merz, Tristan Belue and Jesse Hibler were also in red figures at 70 (-2).
The men will be teeing off at 7:30 am.

In the USGA Girls Junior Qualifier, Faith Low from Foster City, California was the medalist by shooting even par for the day. Low has had four top-10 AJGA finishes in her career. Nicole Koong & Raleygh Simpson shot a score of 74 (+2) after 18 holes, taking the two players to a sudden death playoff. Simpson birdied the first hole to secure her second place spot in the qualifier. The two alternates are Nicole Koong and Carly Carter from Boise, who shot a score of 75 (+3). The IGA wishes to congratulate the qualifiers and the alternates on a round well played today.
2021 USGA Boys Junior Amateur Qualifier

In the Boys Junior Qualifier, Mateo Fuenmayor, who will be a rising sophomore at Oregon State in the fall, shot an incredible score of 65 (-7) to advance as the medalist for the USGA Junior Amateur Championship in North Carolina. Fuenmayor’s best score while competing for Oregon State was a 68 (-4) in the third round of the Seattle U.
Wheaton Ennis from Eagle, Idaho finished second in the qualifier after a two hole play off against Will Strong. Ennis and Strong both shot scores of 69 (-3). Ennis has had an outstanding junior career, including a first place finish in the Scottsdale Junior Championship in 2020 with a score of 72-65-137. The two alternates for the event are Landen Gerrish (70) and Max Herendeen (71). The IGA wishes to congratulate the qualifiers and the alternates on a round well played today!
2021 IGA Match Play Champions
Men’s 40+ Division
Darren Kuhn
In the Men’s 40+ Division, Darren Kuhn, the #1 seed, was able to secure the victory in his final match against Michael Conger. Kuhn obtained a 1up lead after the front nine. On the back nine, Conger brought it back to all square on the eleventh hole. However, Kuhn fought back and went 2up on the thirteenth hole and maintained his lead all the way up until the 17th hole where the match concluded.
Super Senior Men’s Division
Bob Lutz
The #2 seed, Bob Lutz, had an incredible winning round in his final match against the #4 seed, Peter Sacks. Lutz created a substantial lead on the front nine winning four out of the first five holes. However, Sacks responded by winning the 6th and 9th hole to cut Lutz’s lead to two. On the back nine, Lutz secured the title by maintaining his 2-up lead through the 16th hole finishing 3 & 2 against Sacks.

With the final day of the Match Play at Jerome Country Club coming to a close, Sheryl Scott, the #1 seed in the Women’s Division, secured her first place victory in her match against the #6 seed, Melinda Howard. In a close fight after the front nine, Scott was 1up against Howard. Scott then preceded to have an outstanding back nine by creating a 4-up lead and finishing 4 & 3 against Howard.
Senior Men’s Division
Randall Cross
In the Senior Men’s Division, Randall Cross, the only #4 seed across all divisions to make it to the finals, was able to come away with the win against the #3 seed, Bruce Robinett. Cross and Robinett were all-square after the front nine. Cross and Robinett continued in a tie until hole #14 where Cross birdied back-to-back holes to go on and secure his 2 & 1 victory against Robinett. In the consolation match, Scott Masingill was able to outlast Mark Spaulding to win 2 & 1, earning 3rd place overall.
Men’s Division
Jason Huff
With the Men’s Division wrapping up the final day of the Match Play, the #1 seed, Jason Huff secured his victory in his match against the #7 seed Colt Jones. Huff established a strong lead after the front nine by carding 3 birdies to go 3up at the turn. Huff maintained his lead on the back nine to go on and secure his 3 & 2 win against Jones. In the consolation match, Daniel Uranga bested Brice Warden to win their match 2 & 1.
Huff, along with Scott and Cross, qualifies for the IGA Tournament of Champions at ElkHorn in September.

After an intense round of quarter finals in the Men’s Division, the semifinalists competing tomorrow are 6th seed Brice Warden versus 7th seed Colton Jones, who upset the number 2 seed, Kenny Walker, to advance to the final day. Following Warden and Jones, the number 1 seed Jason Huff will be facing off against the number 5 seed Daniel Uranga. The Men’s Division will tee off at 8:40 AM on Saturday.

In the Women’s Division, the number 6 seed Melinda Howard upset the number 3 seed Kris Fenwick. Howard will face off against the number 2 seed Abby Black in the final day of the Match Play. The Women’s Division will be teeing off at 8:20 Saturday morning.

The Senior Men’s Division had an unbelievable day two with the number 9 seed Mark Spalding upseting the number 1 seed Bret Rupert. Spalding will play against the number 4 seed Randall Cross in the semifinals Saturday morning. Following Spalding and Cross, the now number 1 seed Scott Masingill, will go head-to-head against the number 3 seed Bruce Robinett. Masingill was able to create a substantial lead against the number 10 seed Jay Sutton by making 5 consecutive birdies on holes 1-5. The Senior Men’s Division will be teeing off at 8:00 AM on Saturday.

As the Men’s 40+ Division wraps up their second day of the Match Play, the number 3 seed, Michael Conger defeated the number 2 seed, Stephen Hartnett to advance to the finals against Darren Kuhn. Kuhn defeated the number 4 seed, Jeff Ward in a 2 hole playoff. The Men’s 40+ Division will be teeing off at 9:00 Saturday Morning.

With the third day of the Four-Ball coming to a close, Lexi Perry and Nicole Suppelsa came away with the win and shot a team score of 5-under (66). When asked what their mindset was for the final round of the tournament, both players said “our goal was to make a lot of birdies and minimize mistakes.” The duo shot scores of 68-66-66=200 (-13) for the tournament. In second place, the team of Darrington and Ruiz had a stellar final day with a team score of 69 (-2). During the three day tournament, Darrington and Ruiz shot team scores of 66-74-69= 209 (-4).

Dan Pickens & Jay Sutton
After an unbelievable final round of the Senior Men’s Division of the Four-Ball, Dan Pickens & Jay Sutton secured the win on the first hole of a three team, sudden-death playoff. However, the excitement wasn’t over. The fight for second place between the teams of Doug Schlosser/Steve Ritchie & Scott Masingill/Calvin Fillmore continued all the way up until the 11th hole, where Ritchie holed out from 60 yards away. Both teams of Schlosser/Ritchie & Pickens/Sutton shot scores of 67-68-66=201 (-12).

As the Men ‘s Division wrapped up the final day of the Four-Ball Championship, Spensky & Merz maintained their lead from the first tee of day one to the 18th green of day three. The duo shot scores of 61-65-63 =189 (-24). During the final round, Spensky had 6 birdies, while Merz contributed a birdie of his own and an eagle on hole nine. John Baranco and Kenny Walker secured second place in a one hole play-off against Grayson Giboney and Jackson Cook.

After a stellar second round, the team of Perry and Suppelsa took the lead on day two of the Four-Ball. The duo shot 5 under (66). In second place, the team of Darrington and Ruiz shot 74 (+3) . The Woman’s division will be teeing off at 8:30 Saturday morning.

With day two of the Four-Ball coming to a close, Merz and Spensky extended their lead over the team of Baranco and Walker. With a total score of 16 under, Merz and Spensky shot 6 under (65) today, while Baranco and Walker shot 4 under (67). The Men’s Division will be teeing off Saturday at 9:20 am.

Coming off of day one, three teams in the Seniors Division finished in a three way tie! The following teams: Calvin Filmore/Scott Massingill, Dan Pickens/Jay Sutton, and Steve Ritchie/Doug Schlosser each shot 4 under-par.

With the women teeing off last for the day, team Karen Darrington and Lori Ruiz are leading the division scoring 5 under (66). Indiviudally both players shot even par (77) for the day. The duo has a two stroke lead over Lexi Perry & Nicole Suppelsa. The Woman’s Division will be teeing off Friday morning at 7:30.
IGA Welcomes New Manager of Rules and Competitions
The IGA is proud to announce that they have a new full time staff member coming on board.
Nicole Bird has been named the new Manager of Rules and Competitions for the Idaho Golf Association. Recently, Bird stepped down as the head Women’s Golf Coach for Boise State University, where she has served since 2007. Bird departs the BSU ranks as the longest tenured coach in program history.
Bird comes to the IGA having more than twenty years’ experience working in the golf industry as both a coach and a golf administrator. “I am very excited about the opportunity to work for the IGA”, said Bird of her new role. “This position allows me to go back to my start in golf which was running tournaments. It’s something I really enjoy and have missed since I’ve been coaching. It will be an exciting change and I look forward to the challenge!”
Aside from her role at Boise State, she has also served on the Texas Christian University (TCU) Women’s Golf coaching staff, as well as played an instrumental role with the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) tournament administration staff.
When asked about Bird coming on board, current IGA Executive Director Caleb Cox commented that he was “elated” that Nicole has decided to join the IGA team, and that he believes that Nicole is going to be a great addition to the team, and will have a great impact on Championship golf in Idaho.
With this announcement, the IGA will officially welcome Bird to the staff in late May, just in time for IGA championship season to begin.
